Our current missions and proposals:

Education

Our education platform stands on the belief that every citizen deserves a fair, equal, and thorough education.

The Swift campaign advocates for measures to level the playing field in education, notably investing in historically black colleges and universities, cancelling student loan debt, increasing funding for public schools and preschool in low income areas, and ensuring quality education for those in special needs programs and DREAMers.

We additionally support the enhancement and modification of school curriculums to accurately represent the history of everyone in our country. This can be accomplished through the representation of minority groups and figures that are crucial to our history and the way we teach, and by establishing a non-partisan and diverse independent commission to survey and evaluate what is missing from a student’s full education.

We recognize that these reforms will not be simple to implement, but our campaign has an in-depth plan to allocate necessary funds. A portion of our funds will stem from some reappropriation of the military budget, as this includes $600 billion of the US budget, and these funds can be better used during peacetime to grow our country with education. We additionally plan to increase the graduated income tax for the ultra-wealthy, and invest a portion of these funds into education. This kind of investment into our public school systems will ultimately benefit our society and our economy because more educated citizens leads to more societal contributions and economic participation.

Need for Weed

In short, the reform of and the use of weed is an underutilized and crucial aspect to the happiness and progression of our country as well as our society. Our campaign recognizes the benefits that the reform of weed would bring, which would include increased profits for the snack industry . Which is why our campaign plans on fully legalizing and decriminalizing marijuana on a national level. This will also include a systemic reform of that sector of our justice and police system. If elected, we will implement mandatory sensitivity and bias training for those in charge of parts of the system that have exhibited bias towards people of color in the past including judges, police officers, etc.

Additionally, we will make sure that the cases of those arrested for possession (specifically people of color) are reevaluated to ensure that they receive a sentence that is representative of the “crime” of possession of marijuana. All in all, we would ensure that one’s race does not have any affect on their sentence.

Environment

The Swift campaign strongly believes that climate change is caused by human activity and is one of the most dangerous threats to our future and the future of generations to come. It is a danger that disproportionately affects communities of color, indigenous people, and other minorities (Sierra Club), so responding to this issue is an intersectional necessity.

We advocate for broad and rapid reform of the country’s energy and agriculture industries in order to reduce the drastic effects of climate change before it becomes too late. We will commence a just transition of our energy industry to 100% renewable energy, creating millions of jobs, and will end the exploitation and greed of the fossil fuel industry. We will also invest in land conservation and support family farming over the monopolization of the agriculture industry.

Our leading scientists have expressed that to avoid the worst effects of global warming, we must as a planet reach net-zero carbon emissions no later than 2050 (Nature Conservancy). This will require collaboration with other top emitters, such as China and European nations, who together make up nearly half of global emissions (Center for Climate and Energy Solutions). We will commit to ending global warming and establishing the United States as a world leader in the fight against climate change.

Foreign Policy

The Swift Campaign believes that foreign policy should focus on promoting democracy and ensuring human rights, diplomacy, peace, and economic fairness in other countries. This will include investing organizations like the World Bank which will both enhance democracy around the world and promote third world economies in order to ameliorate our worldwide economy.

Another focus the Swift Campaign believes should be reflected in foreign policy is limiting executive power in foreign policy. In the past, too often, we have seen presidents utilize executive power to declare war, rather than allowing Congress to officially declare war. We would allow Congress to reassert its constitutional power to declare war, which would limit executive power. Additionally, this would aid in preventing endless wars which are continuous wastes of money and cause thousands of unnecessary American deaths.

Furthermore, the Swift Campaign would invest in the environment on a global scale by promoting the Paris Climate Agreement and investing in third world nations in order to help the world achieve net-zero carbon emissions.

Healthcare

The Swift campaign favors the long overdue policy of universal healthcare through the Medicare for All Act, as proposed by the lovely Senator Bernie Sanders. The Medicare for All Act of 2021 would eliminate all individual deductibles, copays, and premiums, allowing Americans the opportunity to reinvest money back into the economy and additionally lifting more than 8 million people out of poverty (People's Policy Project) without the unnecessary burden of healthcare costs.

The Act would also establish price controls on prescription drug costs, allowing the mothers and fathers of this nation to afford the cost of insulin for their children, without the CEO’s of drug companies hiking up the prices for their own personal gain. Currently, nearly 32 million Americans are uninsured, meaning that nearly 32 million Americans cannot afford to see a doctor, or pay for their prescription drugs, or afford mental health treatment, a number that is only expected to rise to nearly 100 million uninsured by 2050 (find link for this).

Our campaign recognizes that the up-front economic cost of universal healthcare is substantial. But we also recognize that the price for not implementing universal healthcare is even more substantial in terms of the lives lost from the lack of healthcare coverage and preventive healthcare screenings. We plan to fund this plan through heightened income taxes and reallocating funds from our military spending.

Tax

We are so proud to announce our new and improved tax reform policy. We strongly believe that citizens with higher incomes, more specifically millionaires and billionaires, should be taxed at a higher rate than citizens with lower incomes. We will do this by imposing a 70% tax on the wealthy, reducing large earnings going to the people in power. Our mission isn't to increase revenue, it is to decrease income inequality in our country today. With that being said, we are able to use the accumulated revenue towards housing and offsetting the cost of universal healthcare and environmental issues as stated in our environment and healthcare platforms.
